About Us

The Minnesota K-12 Online Learning Alliance fosters and enriches student learning by promoting and supporting the viability of quality online programs throughout the state. To accomplish this we:

Strengthen and ensure the quality of online instruction

  • Actively encourage an exchange of ideas, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Share electronic resources, staff development programs, and professional expertise.
  • Provide forums for the continuing education of Alliance members.

Increase educational opportunities through alternative delivery

  • Promote the philosophy that student learning outside the traditional delivery system is necessary, appropriate, and effective for some students.
  • Help the members of the Alliance to advance and promote the philosophy and practice of online learning in grades K through 12.
  • Establish a collective body of stakeholders to advocate at the legislative level for online educational options for students throughout the state of Minnesota.

Promote collaboration among key stakeholders

  • Identify other organizations that are important to our students and develop strong relationships with these groups.
  • Actively work to identify common goals and share resources with these groups.
  • Respect each individual program's needs and unique qualities.

Advocate for growth

  • Advance and promote the understanding and appreciation of online learning among the general population.
  • Anticipate and prepare members for the future requirements and issues of online learning.
  • Ensure that Alliance members are included in committees, boards, and other advisory groups that make recommendations to legislators and other government agencies about online learning.
